Birmingham Support Group Meetings Suspended until November I'm sorry to inform you that the Birmingham meetings are postponed until November, this is due to both my own recovery from foot surgery, and my impending knee surgery. Steph the other Co-ordinator isn't too well at the moment either, so the decision to postpone the meetings until November has been made in conjunction with Clare at NRAS. I've had quite a lot of feedback from those who have attended the previous meetings and I'm hoping to make changes accordingly. If anyone in the Birmingham area would like to contribute some more please leave feedback via the contact page. One of the concerns was the morning meetings, which for many are awkward due to morning stiffness, others have also said that weekday meetings mean that anyone with RA who is working are unable to attend. Also the duration of the meetings is too long, so we're planning to cut it back from 3 hours down to 2. Another suggestion was for Bi-monthly meetings with social events in between. If anyone else has any other suggestions please let us know. We're sorry for the suspension of the meetings, but we're hoping to have a better stronger programme for the group on it's return. Many thanks for all of your support Joanne (Co-Ordinator) 40,000 people with Rheumatoid Arthritis to be denied access to life changing drugs 21 July 2008 - The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) has reacted angrily to today’s Final Appraisal Document (FAD) issued by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). This decision will deny approximately 60,000 people with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) access to a range of Anti-TNF drugs and could leave them facing high levels of pain, the possibility of more surgery and long term disability For the full article, please click HERE Lord Darzi launches final report on review of the NHS Many of you will be aware that Lord Darzi, Under Secretary of State for Health, has been conducting a major and wide ranging review into the NHS over the past 12 months and NRAS have contributed to this review to represent the views of people with RA For the full article please click HERE New NRAS Booklets: Employment
